Grace

Romans 8:28-39
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What does freedom look like to you?
If you were an artist, how would you paint the word “grace”?
If given play dough and pipe cleaners how would you explain the love of God in your life to a 5 yr old?
Think about a time in your life when God protected you. What did that feel like?
The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Do you really believe this? Do you ever doubt it?

Hurt

Last time at Altered we talked all about sin and it’s effects. It’s marred us and it leaves its marks on everything and everyone we come into contact with. No matter how much we have to offer, we are only left with an empire of dirt.  Johnny Cash’s last recording covered a song titled Hurt that looks at this issue.

A Chance to Serve

It’s always a great privilege when we can help those in need.  We have an opportunity for you.  On Saturday, February 9, we will be heading to Gleaners Food Bank in Taylor to sort and pack food for families in need.  We will be there from 1-4 pm.  If you’d like a ride, we will leave from the church at 12:30 pm.

Oops

We made a mistake.  We’ve advertised Altered as meeting on the 3rd Sunday of each month.  However, we failed to check all of our calendars in the process.  1/2 of our leadership team will be out of town on the 3rd Sunday in February.

Therefore, February’s service will be held on Sunday, February 10 instead.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Are you an artist?

God has blessed each of us with so many talents.  We’d love to see them.  Whether you draw, paint, write, or something else…we’d love to display it.  It brings life to a fairly plain room.  It’s an expression of your faith and hopefully a challenge to ours.

If you have poetry or artwork that is an expression of your faith, please let us know.
