Our 6-12th grade students will be heading back down to Detroit this summer to continue our partnerships with Unity Church, Metro Life Church, Central Detroit Christian, and Kirby Church. We’ll be helping to facilitate VBS, participating in projects around the neighborhood, and loving our neighbors
What does the week look like?
In the mornings we will be serving with Unity Church and Central Detroit Christian, working on projects around the neighborhood. In the past we have painted, landscaped, cleaned, built fences, removed fences, dug holes, filled holes, and sooooo much more. Bring your work gloves! You’ll need them!
In the afternoons we will be partnering with Kirby Church to lead a VBS at Metro Life Church in Detroit. We will lead kids through Bible lessons, crafts, games, snacks, worship, and more.
We usually spend one or two of our evenings helping to run block parties with Unity Church and Metro Life Church, and on our free evenings we like to take the students around to different parts of town to experience great food, and this incredible city.
We plan to stay at Metro Life Church again this summer. We had a great experience staying there last year, and we’re grateful to have a home base so close to where we serve.
We have learned so much and have seen God do amazing things on this trip and we want to continue to partner with what God is doing through these ministries in Detroit. We will be challenged and stretched, but desire to see students (and leaders) grow in their love for the children, families, and city of Detroit. Trip Requirements
Active involvement at The Barn/Torrid
Turn in your application on time by March 14, 2027
Be able to share your faith story with another person
Have a growing relationship with Jesus and can explain what that looks like
Attend all meetings: Sundays, 4/11, 5/2, 6/13 • 6-8PM
(Inform Jordan of any conflicts ASAP)
