Worship Through The Ages

There are so many wonderful songs for worship out there, spanning decades and centuries of the Christian faith. Many of these songs have deeply impacted our faith throughout our lives: teaching us about who God is and our relationship with Him, helping us learn and remember Scripture, comforting us in times of uncertainty, reminding us of our eternal hope, and more! No matter our age or length of time following Jesus, we each can probably think of a song or two that has been particularly meaningful to us along the journey. Those songs might have been written sometime in this current century, in the last 50 years, or even hundreds of years ago!

To celebrate some of these wonderful songs and the stories behind them, the entire Calvary family is invited to Hymnsing+. “Hymnsing” because we intend to sing many songs that are culturally known as hymns, and “+” because we also intend to sing some songs that might not traditionally be considered hymns, but have stood the test of time and helped build our faith. This year we plan to take a walk through time and revisit songs from 4 different specific periods of church history: The Pre-Reformation Age (16th century and earlier), The Golden Age (17th & 18th Century), The Gospel Years (late 19th/early 20th century), and the Jesus Movement (mid-late 20th century). Our set list will be built using past years’ song submissions and making sure to hit all the favorites as well!

We plan to gather in Room 303 to sing and worship the Lord together. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.
