In-depth Bible Study: Amos—Tuesday Evenings, June 16, 23, 30 at 7-8:30pm

Amos was an Israelite farmer, shepherd and prophet of Yahweh. He lived when Israel had a wicked king who allowed God’s people to worship false gods, did not take care of the poor, and stored up treasure for himself. During that time, God’s people were still going through the motions of worshiping God but without sincerity and often mirroring the actions of that wicked king by treating people unfairly. Through sermons, poems, and visions, Amos told God’s people to turn from their false worship to true worship of God and to live in faithfulness and obedience to their true king, the Lord God Himself. Amos also points forward to the Savior to come giving hope to the Israelites and to all who read and study this book. We’ll use an inductive study folder with the text/observation worksheets and an inductive study bookmark. Cost for the Amos Inductive Study Folder is $5.

Heidi Fulk will lead this class in CBC room 302.

Book Club #2: Dust to Dust: Aging Wisely in an Anti-Aging World by Jen Wilkin—Monday Evenings, August 3 and 10 at 7-8:30pm

Dust to Dust reframes aging through a biblical worldview, confronting modern anti‑aging culture and calling Christians to embrace aging as a God‑given gift rather than a problem to solve. Wilkin contrasts the culture’s fear‑driven narrative of decline with Scripture’s hope‑filled story of wisdom, dignity, and purpose across every stage of life—from conception to death.

Using the biblical concept of a chiasm (a mirrored, symmetrical structure), Wilkin presents human life as an arc with meaning in every season. While bodies inevitably decline after the Fall, people continue to develop spiritually, and aging becomes a primary avenue through which God forms wisdom, humility, and love for others. This new book by Jen Wilkin places special emphasis on care for the elderly, intergenerational discipleship, and the church’s responsibility to live out a whole‑life pro‑life ethic—from womb to tomb. Cost for the Dust to Dust book is $16.*Special note: This book does not release fully until July 21 so books will not be available for pick up until after that date.

Laura Imlach will lead the discussions for this book club in CBC room 302. Book clubs meet twice to discuss the first half of the book (chapters 1-4) at the first meeting and the second half of the book (chapters 5-8) at the second meeting.
